Our internal promotions continue with more members of the team excelling in their career. Following numerous promotions earlier this month and last month we would like to announce two more:

Gareth Thomas – Associate

We are delighted to announce that Gareth Thomas will be promoted to the position of Associate.

Before joining Leonard Design Gareth worked on the Design Development and delivery of a large number of projects. Notable designs have been nominated for CIBSE awards on a number of projects from Feasibility through to completion on site. His work also included being the Senior Project Architect & Technical Lead for a luxury holiday resort with ancillary building design from first principles and Masterplan through to technical co-ordination pre-tender.

Whilst at Leonard Design, Gareth has worked on a wide range of complex projects which have been delivered successfully on site. Gareth has taken on a huge amount of responsibility for these projects leading to a very successful end product. More recently Gareth has worked with a number of clients including a FTSE 100 client and a major contractor.

As more of our buildings are being built and delivered, we want to grow the technical capability within the team and Gareth will continue to grow his role in training our team and will be promoted to the position of Associate, please join us on congratulating Gareth.

Rudi Marecki – Senior Associate

Rudi Marecki has been a member of the team at Leonard Design for 12 years.

Rudi’s first significant piece of work at Leonard Design Architects was a large residential masterplan in Mauritius. Following on from the Masterplan work by David Leonard and Ian Staples, Rudi lead the concept design for each of the plots. The scheme progressed at pace and he moved to Mauritius, where he worked with Brian Dent and Azween Ramli to deliver 101 apartments across 4 sites and 2 contractors to complete the scheme in 18 months. The scheme won 2 International Property Awards for ‘Best Residential Development’ and ‘Best Apartment’.

Rudi was the lead as the practice took the strategic decision to move into the UK residential market building a portfolio of projects and securing planning decisions for strategically difficult sites in Nottingham such as Bramcote and Castle Boulevard. Following this work, Rudi developed the winning bid design for a civic centre project and gained planning consent for this building on a key iconic site next to Trent Bridge under delegated powers and knocking a year off the programme. In 2021 the project won the Insider Residential Awards for ‘Apartment Development of the Year’

Rudi has also led the development of a Eco Housing concept working with our University Research graduates to create a new Zero Carbon modular solution – a first in the UK.

On a large-scale Rudi has developed masterplans with David and on a smaller scale is now developing and growing our Sports & Community projects, an important focus for us as we try to ensure we maintain a variety of large and small projects in the practice. It also means that we get the chance to contribute to our communities and benefit everyday people and change things for the better like we have done with the advancements into the care sector which Rudi started with Becky Simmons.

Please join us in congratulating Rudi on his achievements and his promotion to Senior Associate.
