Innovative retail inspired by the grace, dancing movement and elegant wing forms of Incheon’s red-crowned crane.
Leonard Design Architects created concept retail environments for the competition winning Liquor & Tobacco duty free bid at the new Terminal 2 at Incheon International Airport. We were subsequently appointed to produce the schematic design for 8 individual Liquor & Tobacco stores. Our designs are shaped by contextual, experiential and physical influences. Flight and the dancing red-crowned crane (a symbolic animal of the Incheon region) were the contextual inspiration behind elegant wing forms and textures. Customer experience innovations are key to the design with the Virtual Wine Cellar and The Distillery (a blend your own whiskey experience) featuring. Innovative ‘smart retail’ media walls at the rear of the store have a synergy with the terminals own ‘smart airport’ concept. The quality of our store designs led the airport authority appointing us to design one of the concourse’s sculptural landmark features.
