Leonard Design has undertaken the renovation and refurbishment of an existing space operated by the Hyundai Motor CMK Foundation, transforming it into a new community-led, social, and multicultural hub for OnDream Society.
The existing interiors, characterised by cool blue tones and stainless steel finishes, have been reimagined as a warmer, more atmospheric, and more welcoming space that more fully expresses the foundation’s identity.
Level one is designed as a vibrant cultural hub comprising a heritage cabinet built using glass blocks and showcasing the founder’s messages and the foundation’s values; a library offering access to diverse collections; an auditorium hosting a wide range of cultural events; and Hisbeans Café, operated by a social enterprise. The key driver of our design was to create a more open, spacious, and comfortable environment with views toward Myeong-Dong Cathedral, one of the district’s most significant heritage landmarks.
Level 6, which previously resembled a conventional office lobby, has been transformed into a welcoming lounge where scholarship recipients of the Hyundai Motor CMK Foundation, leaders of impact startups, and others connected to the foundation can meet, connect, and exchange ideas. This formerly monotonous and rigid environment has been reimagined through carefully curated furniture, soft furnishings, lighting, and colour to create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere that encourages people to stay, interact, and feel at home.
