Redeveloping the existing shopping centre and surrounding context
The refurbishment of Makisches Quartier begins with the regeneration of the food court and the simplification of the circulation routes. As part of the new works the central piazza will be opened up with a new skylight and internally renovated to include the provision for activation and event spaces. An overall urban street theme defines the materials, furniture and wayfinding to create a modern bohemian vision.

Leonard Design took on the concept planning for the interior design of the renewal of the Märkisches Quartier.

In cooperation with Aukett + Heese Architects, the design began with the redevelopment of the market hall and the simplification of the circulation patterns.

As part of the redesign, the centrally located market hall will receive natural light via a new skylight and will be internally reconfigured to make room for an active space use suitable for events.

The overall design concept takes reference from urban streets and determines the choice of materials, furniture and signage.
