Reinvigorating Skegness’ seaside with a comprehensive refurbishment of the area around the existing pier.
The project aims to connect the dots of the existing Towns Fund supported projects, to reinvigorate Skegness’ seaside with a comprehensive refurbishment of the area around the existing pier. There are four key aspects to the project, which include:
A. Pier Heritage Restoration Works Refurbishment of the remaining 118m of pier deck including painting ironmongery, refurbishing balustrades, upgraded lighting, furniture, and access improvements.
B. Cultural and Creative Hub A new community and creative hub salvaging of a row of brick beach huts left abandoned since the 70’s that blight a section of the foreshore.
C. Pier Entrance Façade Improvements Restoration of the architecturally significant 1970’s street-facing facade with a nod to the original grand entrance of the Victorian pier.
D. New Public Realm Works. A new pedestrian public realm to the South of the pier, including an events space, amphitheatre, pop-up street, seating areas, biodiversity, improved accessibility and potentially new restaurants.
