Leonard Design is proud to announce that work has now begun on the Broad Marsh Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Nottingham, an exciting new healthcare facility that will offer essential diagnostic services in the heart of the city.
Located on Lister Gate, the CDC is part of a national programme funded by the Department for Health and Social Care, designed to improve public access to vital tests such as MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray and more. The new centre will support faster diagnosis, earlier treatment and better outcomes for local residents — all delivered closer to home.
The CDC is being developed in partnership with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and is the latest phase in the wider regeneration of the Broad Marsh area. As architects, Leonard Design have supported Nottingham City Council for many years on the Broad Marsh Masterplan, the Central Library, Bus Station and Car Park, Collin Street & Carrington Street road closure & Landscape Design (with Townshend Landscape Architects) along with securing funding for demolition & public realm works.

This new NHS facility strengthens the area’s transformation into a vibrant, community-first destination with world-class public amenities, culture and connectivity.
“It has been a pleasure working with the project team to design this new facility for NUH,” said Ben Bowley, Director at Leonard Design. “As a Nottingham-based consultancy, it’s incredibly important to us to help reshape and improve our local area through collaborative, impactful design.”
The CDC will open in 2026, eventually delivering around 140,000 appointments each year and creating over 130 new jobs across a wide range of medical and support roles.
Leonard Design continues to work closely with Arup, Henry Brothers Construction, Meller, Homes England and the NHS project team to help bring this important infrastructure to life.
Stay tuned for updates as the Broad Marsh CDC progresses. Another bold step toward building a healthier, more connected Nottingham.
