In a saturated market, Fabric, a 323-bed Purpose-Built Student Accommodation scheme on Talbot Street in Nottingham, stands out confidently in the crowd. Working holistically alongside our Architecture and Graphic Design teams, the Leonard Design Interiors and Styling teams developed a strong narrative from the very beginning. Drawing inspiration from the site’s rich history, we shaped not only the aesthetic but also the narrative and the brand. Fabric became a collection of interwoven stories and subtle nods to the past, carefully crafted to create interiors that feel sophisticated, vibrant and homely.
The amenity spaces are spread across two ground-floor levels, each with a distinct atmosphere. Talbot Street Ground Floor serves as the main welcome point, featuring a warm, hospitality-inspired reception that flows into a flexible lounge space. Here, students can collaborate, socialise or retreat into quieter corners, including a meeting room and a dedicated study area. Wollaton Street Ground Floor is activity-focused, offering a private dining room, gym, and games den – spaces designed to foster connection, wellbeing and social engagement.
The interior aesthetic encourages a sense of maturity and responsibility. Inspired by hospitality design, the spaces strike a balance between comfort and aspiration, helping students feel as though they are embarking on the next stage of their lives. Each environment is intentionally warm and inviting, while instilling respect and pride of place.
Styling was curated to support these qualities, enhancing the intended use of each space and providing tools that encourage engagement, wellbeing, and community.
