Heart of the City II will build on what is uniquely Sheffield. It will deliver a new quarter, integrating existing architecture with major quality additions to the city’s new public realm and amenity spaces, retail, leisure, offices, hotel provision and inner city homes; a new heart the city can be truly proud of.
The design knits together the heart of Sheffield with the confluence of major arrival routes into the city, including the key streets of Fargate, The Moor and Division Street.
The masterplan celebrates the key iconic public spaces of Barker’s Pool and the Sheffield Peace Gardens and provides easy access to people whether they arrive on foot, by bike, car, bus, tram, or train. Spanning over 7 hectares with 1.5 million sqft of development, the masterplan will provide up to 7,000 new jobs providing £3.7 billion in economic activity by 2030.
