Leading the green architectural revolution at Creative Change Makers 2023

Team Leonard Design took part in the incredible Creative Change Makers event in Nottingham. The goal, to build a fairer, healthier, more sustainable + regenerative world, through the power of creative thinking – city by city + community by community.

Organised by Creative Conscience, the event focused on creativity for social and environmental impact through the use of inspiring TEDx style talks. Representing the Leonard Design team were director John Morgan and Architectural Assistant Steven Lane.

The Leonard Design presentation included insights into a range of projects of varying scales including Sheffield’s grey to green scheme, Sunset Waltham Cross Studios and Nottingham’s first modular parklet. Steven Lane’s passion for growing local produce for the community led discussions between the Nottingham Green Food Partnership and Leonard Design to work together to design and construct the eco-friendly space. Furthermore, insights into Nottingham’s future broadmarsh development were explored with the 15-mintue economy. John Morgan also championed internal team initiatives such as LeonardGREEN and LeonardGROW which have seen hydroponic systems built in the Nottingham office for the team to harvest and enjoy.

Morgan described how “diving into these LeonardGREEN and LeonardGROW activities may look like small community or team culture initiatives – but by diving in and giving this a go it has been great for business, has inspired our clients and is leading to new projects in the studio.”

The presentation concluded with an encouraging message to “jump in, get involved, don’t sit back … do something … and when you do, coincidences happen, planets align and great things will develop for you & you team.”
