Experience a comprehensive insight into the Heart of the City masterplan, the £470m redevelopment project that has redefined Sheffield city centre. This transformative project encompasses 150 million sqft of residential, office, retail, hotel, leisure, and community space, including a new public park, Europe’s largest food hall, and the renovation of a Grade II Listed Building previously on Historic England’s ‘Buildings at Risk’ register.

This event will provide participants with valuable insights from those who played pivotal roles in delivering this largest multi-phased city centre regeneration scheme in Europe. Learn how the project successfully navigated challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and escalating construction costs to maintain momentum. The programme features presentations, panel discussions, a guided site tour, and networking opportunities.

Agenda
9am – 9.30 am – Arrival & Registration Meet at Arup Sheffield Office – for a great aerial view of the Heart of the City Masterplan and a morning coffee
10am – Talks from speakers who created the Heart of the City Masterplan and developed the Planning Strategy along with an Academic view of the delivered Masterplan to set the scheme for the day.
11.30 – In small groups taken on a tour of the delivered masterplan – regular stopping points to show & discuss how the strategy was delivered and challenges overcome.
1pm – Start of Lunch (and a well earned break!)
2pm / 2.30pm – Panel Discussion and Q&A – Including Head of Regeneration for Heart of the City, Sheffield City Council, Architect Masterplanner, Planning Consultants, University Academic Specialist.
4pm – Drinks, Questions & Networking ( or feel free to run for your train)
5pm – Finish

Attendees will gain a thorough understanding of the key processes involved in producing, reviewing, and implementing masterplans, regeneration, urban planning, and development briefs.
